Wind pumps and tjaskers are, in turn, two types of wind mills – classified on the basis of purpose they serve. People can benefit from the water that can be pumped out by wind pumps; it can also used for drinking by cattle. Again, for bringing out water from locations requiring low heads, drainage wind mills, like tjaskers, are used. The patterns of wind flow, unique requirements of an area as well as the final usage of the wind energy determines which of the wind energy generators are more efficient and involves less costs. Thus, a detailed study of the systems is called for.

It cannot be overlooked that wind energy is one of the fastest developing energy resources all over the world. Wind resources, unlike other conventional power plants, do not pollute the atmosphere.
